In photography, the golden hour is a period shortly after sunrise or before sunset during which daylight is redder and softer than when the sun is higher in the sky.

Bio:
Based in Washington, D.C, Messay is a photographer who grew up in
Ethiopia, Madagascar, Kenya, Cameroon and the United States. Through his travels to various countries, he has developed a strong appreciation of different cultures which he shares through his street photography work. In addition to several online publications and blogs, his photography work has been featured on The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, Washington Examiner, Der Spiegel Magazine and The Ford Foundation.
Presentation Title: Light & Shadow
My street photography work focuses mainly on the contrast between light and shadow. I am driven to create images where the symphony of colors, people, shadows and lines work together to show a semblance of order in highly congested city environments.
EIC Guidelines:
Please upload up to three images max for the EIC competition to Dropbox, in accordance with the IPS Competition Rules and EIC guidelines. Submission deadline: Saturday preceding the meeting date, by 11:59pm (midnight).
All EIC images need to follow file naming conventions and include the photographer’s name, image name, and competition class (A or B). Images that do not adhere to the competition theme/rules, submitted late, and/or are not labeled properly will be automatically disqualified.
