March 2021 – Monthly Meeting + Virtual Competition

March 17, 2021 @ 6:15 pm - 8:00 pm

On Wednesday, March 17, 18:15 PM, IPS is honored to host Matthew Rakola for a presentation of his accomplishments and body of work, followed by our monthly virtual photo competition (Theme: Macro Photography). The competition follows our EIC guidelines – please refer to http://www.imfwb-ips.org/eic-guidelines/ if you would like additional details.

Matthew Rakola is a commercial, editorial and advertising photographer who specializes in photographing real people doing real things. A proud Maine native, he is the son of two college professors who raised him to be curious about everything and to never stop asking questions. He puts this inquisitiveness to good use as a way to engage subjects from different backgrounds. His trademark question, “what does THAT do?” has opened doors in physics labs, car garages and artist studios from Argentina to Virginia.

He is also the director of the D.C. chapter of American Photographic Artists, a trade organization dedicated to helping professional photographers succeed, and is a founding creative at Missing Link, a podcast media company. He lives in Silver Spring with his wife and two sons and spends most of his free time picking up legos off the floor and planning his next adventure.
